Hypervelocity stars, or HVS, are stars having galactocentric velocities greater than the escape velocity of the Galaxy. The study of HVSs began when Hills (1988), using numerical simulations, predicted the disruption of a binary stellar system passing close to the supermassive black hole at the center of the Milky Way. One of the binary components would be captured, while the other would be ejected at speeds up to 4000 km/s. The discovery of the first HVS was made by Brown et al. (2005). Most studies for this type of star are done by analyzing their radial velocities. There are very few studies that use proper motions as searching parameters for HVSs. The purpose of this work is to find criteria for selecting HVS candidates from catalogs containing stars that have high proper motions.
