Abstract:
Abstract In this work we develop a semi-analytical model to analyze the dynamical evolution of a massive body in coorbital motion with the Moon. We assume that this object was formed together with the Moon and analyze their subsequent migration away from the Earth due to the tidal effect. The purpose is to study the stability of the coorbital under the solar perturbation, which is important for the appearance of the evection. We solve the equations of motion using a symplectic map. The results in the planar case show that the coorbital dynamics is dominant not only in the early evolution of the system, when the satellites are close to the Earth, but also while they migrate away from the planet. The area of the tadpole orbits shrinks as the system migrates, and the solar perturbation is not enough to destabilize the orbit of the coorbital. A more detailed analysis is required to verify if the coorbital stays in the 1:1 resonance with the Moon when the system crosses the evection resonance.
